Gourmet Italian Sausage Burger

On a rare lunch date with my husband I found inspiration at a local pub. Sounds like a great start to a story right!

Well it’s true. We were day 4 into a wallpapering project and needed some time to step away. 4 days for wallpapering may seem excessive. It is if your house isn’t 100+ years old and there were many previous layers. I counted 7 different kinds and wallpapering turned into painting raw plaster. A pint and a burger was much in need.

So the daily special was an Italian style burger. It was good but not great. Immediately my mind was turning with thoughts of ‘How to make the ultimate burger!’. Daunt ta ta ta done!

A couple of days later and one dressing room wallpapered with marriage in tact our kitchen exploded with thoughts of Amore! The sauce was simmering, the burgers grilling and the relish musing in it’s own juices. Life was beautiful.

The end result was my husband savoury every bite and exclaiming ‘this is ridiculous!’ I think he loves me even more (like that’s possible). The side of butter sage gnocchi really sent him over the top.

I know he is biased and has a vested interested in keeping me happy, but this is a seriously awesome burger. I must say though that he is trained in the culinary arts and has previously worked in the business so he does have some street cred.

Get your appetite ready as you will not want to share this burger.
